Nice friendly pub, although it was a bit cold where we were seated but it was minus 2 outside and we were near the door as it was very busy, would probably visit again in the summer as they have a good size garden to the rear
I enjoy my Saturday breakfast at Lord John.. it is good value for money. I would, however, like a choice of brown bread instead of only being offered white. My other complaint is that there are too many cold draughts. It is hard to feel comfortably warm. I think there must be a lack of draught exclusion on the windows and doors.!
Came here on a freezing cold morning to get breakfast before catching a train, but when I arrived I had to quee outside with a couple of others even though it was opening time! So me being me I knocked on the door for attention but the staff refused to open up claiming they were short staffed today, someone else did the same thing and got a totally different explanation without any clue whatsoever as to when the staff would pull themselves together, apparently they would rather everyone stood outside in the cold rather than let them in to the warm without making money from the whole thing. Not amusing at all finally opened 24 minutes past and I downgraded to just drinking coffee since I begrudge these fiends my money now!
Probably near the high end of a Wetherspoons and is quite welcoming. The beer was actually quite good and I enjoyed my time there. I would definitely go back if I was passing through Stroud.
Decent enough and roomy typical Wetherspoons. Called by en-route to football match at Forest Green Rovers and was busy serving a well behaved group of visiting supporters from Newport County. Bar staff worked hard and always seem to be of a cheery disposition. Toilets are downstairs and therefore not disabled friendly but access is easy enough from a bustling busy street. Great range of beers and other assorted alcoholic drinks. Food looked great but did not partake. Nice pub.
