Really good atmosphere and local ale also has fab food in bar and restaurant
Never been before but will definitely go again. Very genial host, good menu, large portions, bread cooked on the premises or locally sourced. I had a veggie baguette full to overflowing with beautifully cooked peppers, aubergine etc with a topping of halloumi...all served with coleslaw and mixed salad plus a portion of chips. That meal with a drink cost just over 8. What's not to like?

Good food and beer reasonably priced bar and restaurant.Restaurants can be booked for private functions party's etc. Great beer garden in the summer with childrens play area easily supervised from adjacent garden tables.Popular sports on big screens in bar area + Duke box and pool table.
I stayed at The Clothiers with my wife for 3 nights while I was on a course in Stroud. The room (Meadow) was excellent, nicely decorated, and with a comfortable bed. The road outside is busy during the daytime, but the traffic dies down early in the evenings, so it's quiet during the night, and it gets properly dark as well, which is a bonus.Food was excellent also, good quality, locally produced where possible, and you get lots of it! Oh, and very reasonably priced, especially the 7.50 main courses from the "Specials" board, although these are only available for the first part of the evening.The staff are really friendly and helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. Really good.The restaurant got really busy most evenings we were there, so it's a good idea to book.On the whole, it was a really good experience.
