First the positives, spacious rooms friendly helpful staff and central location. Unfortunately these are outweighed by the negatives. The heating is woeful and you'll need the extra fan heater, the furniture would be rejected by a charity shop and the bed was not the most comfortable, the restaurant area was also pretty cold . You could say that there was plenty of fresh air in the room thanks to the ill fitting windows and that you did not need an alarm thanks to the first train arriving at 5:30 but I am afraid that this hotel needs some major work to bring it up to a reasonable standard.
Reception staff was unfriendly, no lifts for disabled access, breakfast overpriced, I will not stay in this hotel again, the two stars given are for, the clean room and location of the hotel was convenient
An infuriating habit of closing the kitchen about 5 minutes before the advertised time. Be warned. Food is fine
Lovely hotel - poor rude and offensive staff.Arriving at this lovely hotel i was greeted by two polite and informative gentlemen who gave general directions and rule to the establishment, a folded piece of paper was given and i was told to read it.CHECK OUT- i got knocked on 3-4 times at just after 1000hrs,Walking downstairs i'm faced with rude member of staff who actually came to my room once already, she told me that she was charging my card for staying in to room too long it was around 1040, (bearing in mind i was never verbally given a check out time) one assumed it was like most at 11. In an event THIS being the main complaint is the female staffs attitude, it was disgusting, shouting calling me a liar, saying i knew about the check out time, because 'the men' told me. I simply said if i was told to be out by 1000 i would of been out by 0945, i assumed it was 1100 and with no signage in the room and nothing verbal i went along with leaving at or before 1100. This rude member of staff threw a tantrum, left the bar and said she wouldn't speak to me any more and she's going to and get the men. When she was gone i noticed discrepancies on my room bills also... Which the female got even more angry at and just pointed at the signature that I made. The two gentlemen staff were kind throughout and well mannered.
Stayed here on Saturday night, the staff were welcoming and the room was ideal, modern enough and plenty of space. We had to wake the staff up very late (like 2am!) as we had lost our keys and they were so lovely about it, didnt make us feel like the annoyance we were! And then on Monday I got a call that they had found my earrings that I had not realised yet that I had lost and they posted them recorded delivery that day! What a fantastic service and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel and the wonderful staff. Huge thanks! X
