This is a store with a huge potential, that is being let down by not having competent mechanics and some staff having no idea about the products on their shop floor. Cycling in the UK has gone from strength to strength and the average customer understanding and expectation has grown with it. Noahs Ark has failed to keep pace with what is happening in the UK.Biggest issue is lack of a single competent mechanic. I've put two bikes through them in the last 12 months and both bikes had notable issues when they came out due to incompetence of their "mechanics".Lesson learnt on my side, if I take my bike anywhere now I will ask in advance who is working on the bike and what their training is.I hope the owner reads this and realizes he needs to make a step change and invest in two good mechanics and a good shop manager if he wants the business to grow or even survive with the advance on the online retailers. No one wants to see a LBS go down. Most recent exposure was the most scary with my S-Works Tarmac build. They did not put the crank in correctly, brakes were binding, gears not adjusted correctly. They charged me for a new chain, when the existing one was new. I managed to get hold of the one competent mechanic and he agreed to go over the bike and get it sorted. Which was good, only some of the spacers were now missing for the crank now. Shortly after this their one qualified mechanic quit.Later on review of the bike, I found the teflon sleeves were not installed around the bottom bracket where the cables run so the front derailleur cable was working its way through the frame. Prior to this I had a high end mountain bike sent to them that I purchased on ebay. It looked ratty but just a year old. From talking with them we agreed the best thing was a full full service for, I think around 175 GBP, included fork service and hydraulic brake service, strip and rebuild. This was considered the best option as I wanted them to go through the bike and get it ready for Africa, any parts that needed replacing no problem. When I got the bike back it was still dirty and was not reflective of a bike that had been fully stripped. So I stripped it myself and this is what I found:Crank creaking - stripped and found no grease anywhere plus it was worn. I ordered new crank and greased the existing one until new arrived - creaking gone.Chain rings worn - ordered new onesRear derailleur tension and guide pulleys worn to the point of death stars so I replaced those.Rear tire shot as walls worn through - so I replaced thatRear wheel buckled - they did not even note thatWhat they did do was get the forks serviced and sorted and they work fine as this was done outside of the shop by Fox.Long story short - if you take your bike there ask who is going to work on it and ask for their professional qualifications. Hopefully they will invest in an experienced qualified mechanic as I would prefer to see them grow than fail.

Fantastic customer service from Russel. He couldn't have been more helpful to me as a beginner and he explained everything I needed to know about the repairs that he carried out. Which he did very quickly, so that I could ride the next day. I cant recommend Noah's Ark enough.
