Not a bad facility, thriving most of the time. swimming pool available infrequently, gym availabl all of the time. Various courts for ball games etc. Could do with a bit of modernisation but I'm sure budgets are tight. Having said that, try and avoid the blatent cash cow/rip-off that is the cafe. I've rather stupidly just paid 80p for a single Nestle Breakaway bar! Not a whole packet only a single bar! Bloody crazy. Even if you're trying to wean people off sugar that is a scary high margin on something that is likely less than 10p per bar wholesale.
The basics are here and the facilities cover a lot of bases. Unfortunately, although some of the staff are excellent, others really let the place down; as does the appalling state of the pool. The squash courts are my favourite bit. There are worse places to train.

Personally, I work here as a lifeguard, an unbiased review is that this place has potential to be a fantastic facility but it would take a lot of money to be redone and so will never happen. The building itself was opened in the 70's and designed to only last 20 years so is well past it's sell by date. As for the Outdoor pool, it opened in 1937 (I think!) And was heated for 3 years until the copper tubing for heating was stripped for use in world war 2, this is why the pool is freezing :). And the infamous diving boards, no one has ever died on them they closed in the 80s as health and safety laws changed and the depth of the pool was no longer safe legally, they have not been destroyed or taken down as they are part of a listed structure with the local council as having significance to the Stroud community.
